Summer is probably most people’s favourite season and with good reason! This season offers its fair share of fun with outdoor activities, summer holidays, etc. However, summer also causes discomfort when temperatures are too hot. Indeed, falling asleep in sticky sheets is never pleasant. You can, of course, install a fan and an air conditioner in your room, but sometimes this is not enough. Here are some clever ideas to cool off in the summer.

1. Close windows during the day

By closing your windows, the sun will not hit your windows, which will avoid heating your rooms more.

2. Open your windows during the night

During the night, temperatures drop, so it’s the perfect time to reopen your windows. Create drafts so you have fresh air in your home.

3. Don’t forget to unplug your devices

9. Refresh your drinks quickly

10.

To refresh your drinks, you can always put them in a clay pot filled with ice.

11. Are you planning to receive several people at home?

Put your many drinks in a bathtub that you have previously filled with ice.

12. Here’s an original way to keep your beverage cool!

Not only are the fruits delicious on your plate, but they can also help you cool your beverages. Isn’t that fabulous?

13. Choose citrus fruits

Although lemon is ideal to tone your veins and keep your legs light, oranges are also very effective and beneficial for your blood capillaries. In addition, grapefruit moisturizes you and contributes to a good digestion.

The beauty of citrus fruits is that they don’t necessarily need to be prepared; eat them directly as they are if you like the taste and you’ll be immediately hydrated!

14. Eat watermelon

It’s no surprise to anyone. Everyone knows that watermelon, with its 92% water content, is the fruit par excellence to hydrate you on hot summer days. But in addition, it helps to relieve fever, restlessness and dry throat caused by heat. Watermelon is also excellent against heat stroke.

15. Savour the melon

Like watermelon, melon contains a lot of water, 90% of its composition. It is also very rich in minerals, such as calcium, magnesium and potassium, which are excellent for your body, in addition to containing many antioxidants. Melon can also help you refine your tan! To make the most of its properties, you should eat it chilled, as a snack, between meals.

16. Add cucumber to your dishes

Even more moisturizing than watermelon, cucumber is the big winner with a water composition of 97%! In addition to being very low in calories, it contains a lot of fibre and minerals. It is best to eat it raw, as is or in a salad, but you can also make a gratin or a pie. You can even opt for organic cucumbers, which will allow you not to remove the skin and, therefore, enjoy its nutrients.

17. Have a salad

A salad is really one of the most popular summer meals! When it’s too hot, no one wants to eat something too heavy or complicated. In addition to being quick and easy to prepare, salad is an excellent source of minerals and vitamins and can easily be combined with protein to make a complete meal with eggs, fish, meat, tofu or lentils!

18. Refresh yourself with a tomato

The tomato is a vegetable which also contains an extreme amount of water, 95% to be exact. It is, therefore, a low-calorie and very moisturizing health option, in addition to helping counter dry throat. If you want a little help for your tan or just to improve your health, you can eat it cooked, but left raw, it can easily be eaten as is, in salads, cold soups or even juices!

19. Try zucchini, a vegetable filled with water!

Containing 94% water, zucchini can be eaten as a salad or tabbouleh to hydrate you. It will help you to refresh in addition to not contributing to your weight gain thanks to its low-calorie intake.
